Students will work on several long term projects this year. I will post project requirements, deadlines, and assessment rubrics on this page. This will give students an opportunity to plan their work and complete projects in stages.

Informational Essay (Writing Workshop)
DESCRIPTION: Students write an Informational essay to teach the reader about a worthwhile and meaningful topic (notable person, place, or enrichment activity)

DESCRIPTION: Students write a Personal Narrative about an important person or object in their life
REQUIREMENTS:
- Narrative Structure (3 or more paragraphs including a title, introduction, body, and conclusion)
- Transition words and/or phrases (sequence words to show when things happen and connect ideas)
- Sensory details and descriptive language ("paint a picture")
- Dialogue ("make a movie")
- Personal reflection/response (why an experience was personally meaningful, what the author learned from an experience or special person in their life)
TIMELINE:

- Brainstorming topic ideas (related to a person or object that is important to you) and selecting a topic
- Listing why a person or object is important to you, growing an idea about a topic, writing a small story about an idea that relates to a topic
- Stating a "big" idea about a topic (what you have learned from an experience or important person in your life, what an experience was personally meaningful
