Reading Everyday
Reading should be enjoyable and is important for your child's success at school and in life. My goal is to foster a life-long love of reading for all my students. Students should be reading 40 minutes a day at school and 40 minutes each evening, every day, by the time they move on to middle school. |

Readers & Writers Workshop
We are going to do some GREAT writing this year! Students will share ideas and write personal narratives, informational, and opinion writing as part of a classroom community of readers and writers. We'll learn about different book genres, writing structures, the stages of the writing process, and build confidence as writers. Lucy Calkins, the Reading and Writing Workshop Guru, shares what it means to be a good writer in this insightful video. |
Building Vocabulary and Academic Language
By doing word work and learning how to break the code of prefixes, suffixes and root words, students will grow their vocabulary and strengthen their understanding in all subjects.
